About the Program
On the 40th anniversary of Earth Day and 23 years after he departed the Ecumenical Center, Rev. Dave Steffenson is back for his Last Earth Day Lecture--a lecture that will mark his life-long dedication to environment, ecumenism and spiritual development.
Join us for a dinner lecture on April 22, 2010 at 5 pm at the Ecumenical Center when Rev. Steffenson will share some of the most important lessons of his life. And when we, too, share our appreciation for his lifetime of service.
About Rev. Dave Steffenson
As an early environmental activist, the Rev. Dave Steffenson, Ph.D. combined his passion for ecology with his faith background as a United Methodist Minister, to deliver an important message about ethics as the guiding principle behind many environmental issues.
One of the two original Ministers to serve at the Ecumenical Center, Rev. Steffenson spent 17 years helping students deepen their spiritual quest while also teaching environmental ethics, religion, and social change as a Community Instructor in the University of Wisconsin—
Green Bay, Social Change and Development Concentration and the Liberal Education Seminars.
Upon his departure from the Ecumenical Center and UWGB in 1987, Rev. Steffenson was a local pastor and ecological ethicist focusing his time, energy and passion on his love of environment. In 1999, he became the Founding Director of the Wisconsin Interfaith Climate and Energy Campaign (WICEC), the role he held until 2008.
Now in retirement, Rev. Steffenson serves as the Consulting Director of the Upstream Institute for Ecological Ethics in Madison, WI.
